Athlete's Village
The London 2012 Olympics leaves a lasting legacy in the form of the Olympic Village, with over 2,800 new houses and apartments for East London – over 1,300 of which being affordable homes. Reynaers were involved from the initial stages of the design and worked closely with Lend Lease and the various architects for 3 years to ensure the right products were chosen.
Consisting of 11 residential plots each made up of six to eight buildings around a traditional courtyard area, the development utilised over £20 million doors and windows, for which we supplied an impressive portfolio of high performing aluminium systems.
Sustainability forming an important part of the brief, our 100% recyclable aluminium ES 50 system was chosen, providing optimal thermal insulation for all inward and outward opening windows, window-doors and flush doors.

Our thermally insulated three-chamber system CS 68 and CS 77 variations both provide enhanced insulation and weather performance, with double butt strips between the frame and vent and lowered drainage ensuring superior air, wind and water tightness around the former.
Our CP 96 sliding door elements provided the perfect solution giving high thermal performance and air, wind and water tightness whilst adding aesthetic appeal and continental flair to the look of the development.
With safety and security high on the agenda a wide range of aluminium window and door systems, tested in accordance with ‘secured by design’, were also supplied across the Olympic Village.
With a new identity revealed as ‘East Village’, the Olympic development offers a choice of one bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses with open-plan layouts, large balconies and winter gardens and is set to be ready for residents to move into in 2013. We are proud to have played a part in the 2012 Olympic Village and its lasting legacy.
