What is the CWCT?
Centre for Window and Cladding Technology
An independent industry-funded centre of specialist knowledge and expertise available to its Members as well as the wider industry.
CWCT publishes standards, guidance and technical publications and provides focused courses for both Members and non-members. This includes an internationally recognised course providing an MSc in Façade Engineering in collaboration with the University of the West of England (UWE).
CWCT Standards
The CWCT 'Standard for systemised building envelopes' is applicable to:
- Curtain walling
- Walls with ventilated rain screens
- Slope glazing
Standards are written under the guidance of the CWCT Standards Committee comprising leading architects, consultants, contractors and manufacturers. CWCT standards have now been adopted by NBS and NHBC.
The standard covers:
- weather tightness
- loading and movement
- thermal and moisture performance
- Acoustics
- Fire performance
- operable components
- safety
- service
