What checks should I consider when I employ a fenestration (window or door) contractor?
Choosing the right fenestration contractor is essential to ensuring your windows and doors are manufactured and installed to a high standard. Before appointing a contractor, consider the following:
- Experience: Look for a contractor with a proven track record of delivering projects similar in size and complexity to your own.
- Training and certification: Check that they have relevant, up-to-date training and recognised industry qualifications, such as GQA accreditation, where applicable.
- Product knowledge: Ensure they are experienced in the systems they are proposing and can advise on the most suitable solution for your project.
- Compliance: Ask how they will meet the relevant Building Regulations and industry standards, including requirements for thermal performance, security and safety.
- Guarantees and warranties: Confirm what guarantees are provided for both the products and the installation, and what is required to maintain them.
- Aftercare and maintenance: Check what level of after-sales support is available and whether maintenance guidance will be provided following installation.
- References and previous projects: Request examples of completed projects or customer references to help assess the quality of their work.
Working with a trained and experienced Reynaers Aluminium fabricator or installer can provide added confidence that your systems will be manufactured, installed and maintained in accordance with Reynaers' recommendations. For more advice regarding choosing the right contractor, click here.
