Located in the harbourside town of Torquay, the luxurious Waters Edge renovation project combines contemporary aesthetics, the idyllic location and day-to-day functionality in full transparency.
Comfort, light and coastal challenges
A stones-throw from the sprawling Devon coastline, the private home needed high-performance joinery to ensure comfort needs in even the toughest weather conditions. To this end, pre-anodised and energy-efficient solutions by Reynaers Aluminium were used throughout the property to provide a seamless integration of contemporary aesthetics, comfort and user-friendliness all year long.

Futureproof aluminium solutions
To make the most of the natural light, the renovation features 18 SlimLine 68 tilt-turn windows on its second floor. These outward opening windows are known for their slender heritage design that fits traditional architecture, such as Waters Edge, but ensures futureproof comfort levels at the same time. Despite its slim sightlines, the window system’s performance levels are outstanding. Its pre-anodised aluminium profiles and dedicated glazing perfectly withstand the salty coastal conditions.
Next, Aspect Windows supplied and installed seven ConceptPatio 130 Lift-Slide doors to seamlessly integrate the spectacular ocean views. The systems’ expansive glass panels maximise natural light while the subtle low threshold option ensures user-friendly access from the house to the patio area. With ConceptPatio 130, the homeowners have chosen an easy-to-operate renovation-friendly solution.
Finally, a ConceptSystem 77 single door was also installed. The versatile and reliable door solution is backed by the tough PAS 24 security certification, ensuring robust burglarproof protection to homeowners and visitors alike. ConceptSystem 77 is also a sustainable choice, as the door achieves U-values as low as 1.4 W/m²K and carries the renowned Cradle to Cradle label, as proof of its circular and futureproof design.
