LEED

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is a national standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. LEED certification is initiated by US Green Building Council and is internationally recognized. LEED points (credits) are awarded to reflect the building’s potential environmental impact.

Reynaers’ systems can be used to gain LEED-credits in these domains:

Materials and resources:

Reynaers’ extruded aluminium profiles contain about 40% recycled aluminium. Reynaers can also offer extrusions with a higher amount of recycled aluminium.

Energy and atmosphere:
Reynaers’ systems (windows and doors, curtain walls, sliding systems etc.) can be implemented, in combination with other insulated building components. Sun shading can also be applied to reduce the energy need for air conditioning. Our solar products can help to earn credits for on-site renewable energy.

Indoor environmental quality:
The amount of natural daylight and ventilation options are important. All Reynaers’ products can be used to serve this purpose.

VALIDEO

Valideo is a Belgian voluntary certification that evaluates the overall performance of a construction project based on four principle themes:

  • Site & Construction
  • Comfort & Health
  • Management
  • Social value

Valideo supports the design and implementation process via progressive assessment by domain experts and encourages operators to improve the intrinsic quality of the building throughout the lifecycle.

DGNB

The DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen e. V) or the German Sustainable Building Council is a non-profit and non-governmental organization whose mission is to develop and promote ways and solutions for sustainable design, construction and management of buildings. The main task of the DGNB is awarding certificates for sustainable buildings.

When assessing a building, a total of six areas must be considered:
  • Ecological quality
  • Economic quality
  • Socio-cultural quality
  • Technical quality
  • Process quality
  • Site quality

Each topic includes specific criteria to be fulfilled, depending on the system used (and depending on the building type - new or refurb). The  earlier these criteria are taken into account in the planning phase, the more consistent the  quality of the structure.
